Major COVID-19 Actions

  • California Health Corps:  Governor Newsom announced the creation of the California Health Corps, which is designed to activate Medical doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, behavioral health scientists, pharmacists EMTs, medical assistants, certified nursing assistants.  Find more information at  

  • Economic Impact Payments:  The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service today announced that distribution of economic impact payments will begin in the next three weeks and will be distributed automatically, with no action required for most people. However, some seniors and others who typically do not file returns will need to submit a simple tax return to receive the stimulus payment.  More information, including a FAQ, is available at  The announcement states that additional information for individuals who need to submit additional information will be posted shortly.

  • Forgivable Loan and SBA Grant Applications:  The SBA website was down over the weekend in preparation for the SBA Forgivable Loan under the recently enacted CARES Act.  To access the $10,000 grant, the applicant checks a box at the bottom of the Economic Injury Disaster Loan application. 

  • Paycheck Protection Program:  The US Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship has produced am FAQ for small businesses interested in more information about the Paycheck Protection Plan. 

  • Infographic Primer on CARES Act:  Just Money has prepared an nine-page infographic on the CARES Act, which provides an effective means for introducing the 800 page bill to a broad audience. 

  • Fraud Alert:  The Office of Inspector General for the federal Small Business Administration, is alerting the public about potential fraud schemes related to economic stimulus programs, including, but not limited to, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).  With the CARES Act being the largest financial assistance bill to date, “Fraudsters have already begun targeting small business owners during these economically difficult times.  Be on the lookout for grant fraud, loan fraud, and phishing.
