Welcome to the web briefing on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on small businesses in California. 

This page was developed to assist Member of the Assembly Committee on Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy prepare for the February 23, 2021, informational hearing,  "The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on California Small Businesses."

Finding Information on the Green Side Bar

Visitors to this web briefing have many options for "clicking through" the information.  In the green box on the top right, there are six options for learning more about our hearing on small businesses in California and how the COVID-19 pandemic has created new and amplified existing challenges for these small size businesses.  The first tab, "1 - General Background" presents the basic information about the hearing, including how to view the hearing and call-in for public comment.  Information under the second tab provides a deeper look into witnesses and issues that will be discussed during the hearing.  Tab three includes an overview of California's $3.1 trillion economy, including a link to a "Fast Facts on the California Economy."  Under tab four, lies a discussion and data on how small business's drive the state economyTab 5 includes links to a series of reports that provide hearing references and options for further exploration.

The next three tabs, "6 - Small Business Grant," "7 - COVID-19 Guidance, "and "8 - Budget Actions," provide additional information of the state's response to COVID-19. 

In tab nine, we provide a short list of key issues impacting small businesses and   The final tab, "10 - Public Testimony," includes written testimony and document submittals from stakeholders and other members of the public.

All of this information has also been combined into a JEDE Hearing Report.
